The baby gets the best of what Mom eats. Mom needs to eat healthy, but realize that a part of eating healthy is eating some of the better, natural fats, like good oils, animal fats, and raw nuts. In China the moms apparently eat bunches of eggs while pregnant to help the baby.
Fat is so important for the baby, and really for everyone. Please do a little reading on Mercola.com. Amateur though I am, this lowfat trend can be a problem, especially for children & pregnant moms. Fat in the diet is essential for brain development. What’s killing people is eating too much food that’s fried, processed, etc. and just eating way too much food in general. The less you can eat refined, processed, fried food, white flour, food high in sugar, the better. The more you can eat fresh fruits & vegetables, especially raw, the better.

No. However, the woman’s health DOES affect the baby in other ways. If her heart doesn’t pump blood well, it cuts off the flow of blood to baby.
