raw almonds?? keep u full??? illegal??? please help!?

My aunt told me that raw almonds were good for you and they keep you full without lots of fat and calories. I just went online and read they raw almonds are illegal and the "raw" ones we buy in the store aren’t actually raw and they’ve been stripped of all their nutrients and health benefits. Can someone please tell me what’s going on and if they are still worth trying????? Thanks in advance ;-)))))

Most almonds have been steam pasteurized.

Almonds are very healthy and have not been stripped of all their nutrients and health benefits.

Most nuts are fattening starchy carbohydrates but almonds are non-starchy carbohydrates so they are less fattening than most other nuts.

We grow almonds! We are required to pasteurize them to make sure that they are healthy for you – free of salmonella, etc. But they still retain flavor and nutrients. They are very yummy and good for you, and yes, I find that just the recommended daily amount (1 oz. or about 23 almonds) in the afternoon when I feel like snacking on chips keep me full and satisfied ’til dinner time. Check out our website for info on pasteurization if you are curious! We also have a link to the Almond Board, which will have more info for you too. http://www.4thgenerationfarms.com

    Happy snacking!
